Citrus Heights man ID’d as victim in fatal Land Park shooting

A 37-year-old man who was killed in a shooting near Sacramento City College the day after Thanksgiving has been identified by the coroner’s office.

The Nov. 25 shooting left Joshua Benjamin Gunderson with a fatal gunshot wound after police said he was shot at least once on the 4100 block of 23rd Street and Sutter Road around 4 p.m.

The victim’s friends reportedly took him to a 76 gas station at Del Rio and Sutterville roads following the shooting, where he was then taken to the hospital by an ambulance. ABC 10 reported the man was initially expected to live, but police said later he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

No suspect information or additional details about the shooting have been released. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Sacramento Police at (916) 808-5471. A potential cash reward of up to $1,000 is being offered by Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers, according to KCRA.
