Resident calls for prioritizing repaving of San Juan Avenue
Resident Rhett Reese, a 20-year resident of Citrus Heights, urged the City Council earlier this month during public comment to repave San Juan Avenue as well as portions of Dewey Drive, which he said are getting to a condition “beyond patching.” No council comment was made following Reese’s remarks, as council members are generally restricted from responding to items not on the agenda.
Vehicle crashes into Dairy Queen
An SUV crashed into the Dairy Queen location at Greenback Lane and Binet Drive in Citrus Heights on Monday, resulting in one person being transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Two other people also had minor injuries, according to Metro Fire. A photo shared by Metro Fire showed the front half of the vehicle went through a wall and into the dining area of the restaurant.
Obituary: Jeannie Spargo Smith (1942-2023)
Citrus Heights resident Jeannie Smith passed away on Jan. 11, according to an obituary published this weekend in The Sacramento Bee. Smith graduated El Camino High School and attended American River College, and resided in the Sacramento area for most of her life. Her obituary includes a quote, saying: “My life has been blessed with family members and friends, our Lord has been good.” Smith leaves behind her husband, son, daughter, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
