Police seize weapons, arrest father-son pair in connection to armed robbery

Firearms and ammunition seized on Jan. 31 were shown in a social media post on Wednesday from Citrus Heights police.

By Mike Hazlip—
Police on Wednesday announced the arrest of a father and son after officers served a search warrant at the pair’s Citrus Heights home.

Officers seized several firearms, high-capacity magazines, and thousands of rounds of ammunition in the Jan. 31 search, according to the release.

Lt. Wesley Herman told The Sentinel a firearm found at the scene of an armed robbery on Nov. 16 at a business in the area of Greenback Lane and Dewey Drive eventually led police to the Citrus Heights residence. Police believe the firearms were legally purchased for a convicted felon using what Herman called a straw buyer.

Police arrested 48-year-old Richard Biamonte, and his 25-year-old son, also named Richard Biamonte on Tuesday, Jan. 31 on charges related to being a prohibited person in possession of firearms, Herman said. Sacramento County jail records show both Biamontes were released later that same day.

Neither of the two are considered suspects in the November armed robbery, Herman said. A suspect in that robbery was arrested, and stolen property was recovered, police said in a subsequent update on social media Thursday.

Herman confirmed that Tuesday’s arrests are not related to an armed robbery of an El Pollo Loco restaurant in Citrus Heights on Monday.
