CHPD: Fleeing suspect arrested after crashing into parked vehicles

Date:

By Mike Hazlip—
Citrus Heights residents near Roseville Road reported a police chase that ended with the suspect vehicle colliding with several vehicles parked along Outlook Drive, Saturday morning.

Citrus Heights Police Sgt. Anthony Boehle said officers spotted a vehicle matching the description of a reportedly stolen orange Dodge Challenger in the area of Antelope Road and Lichen Drive. The driver fled at speeds of up to 60 miles per hour through a residential neighborhood, police said.

Officers terminated the pursuit after losing sight of the vehicle, Boehle said. Moments later, police received multiple calls reporting collisions with several other vehicles parked in the 6300 block of Outlook Drive, not far from where police last saw the suspect vehicle.

The driver then fled on foot before officers were able to locate the suspect and take him into custody.

No injuries were reported, and police said the 28-year-old Citrus Heights man is facing multiple charges. Police have not released the name of the suspect. A total of four vehicles were damaged in the incident, police said, none of them were occupied when the collision occurred.

“Thankfully, no one was injured including the suspect,” Boehle said. “With his driving pattern and his motivation to get away from us, that could have been much more significant or serious should he have gotten out of that residential neighborhood or something else would have happened. We’re pretty lucky there.”
