Latest logs released by Citrus Heights Police include a spike of 175 calls regarding fireworks on July 4, robbery at the 7-Eleven store on San Juan Avenue, vandalism reported at a postal center, and a narcotics arrest on Woodmore Oaks Drive.
A Sentinel review of incident logs posted by police show a total of 1,569 incidents listed from June 30-July 6, up significantly from 1,358 incidents the prior week.
Categories of note with comparison numbers from the previous week are listed below:
- Animal control: 50 (up from 42)
- 911 hangups: 80 (up from 59)
- Code enforcement: 31 (down from 37)
- Traffic accidents: 51 (up from 44)
- Vehicle violations: 142 (down from 158)
- Theft: 34 (down from 37)
- Homeless-related: 12 (down from 26)
- Vandalism: 11 (up from 10)
- Violent/threats: 34 (down from 44)
- Disturbance: 114 (up from 112)
- Suspicious circumstances: 177 (down from 186)
Arrests by date. Most active arrest day this period: Saturday. Most active day during prior week: Friday.
- Thurs., July 6: 1 arrest
- Wed., July 5: 6 arrests
- Tues., July 4: 3 arrests
- Mon., July 3: 4 arrests
- Sun., July 2: 3 arrests
- Sat., July 1: 9 arrests
- Fri., June 30: 5 arrests
Citrus Heights police resumed publishing of daily incident logs in March 2023. The department notes that its logs “are not intended as a full and complete list of all police activity,” with some information not displayed for legal reasons, such as arrests of minors. As such, police advise that summary totals based on public logs may differ from weekly incident and arrest totals posted by police on social media.
The department notes on its website that: “All arrested suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty. Additionally, the original crimes, nature of offenses, and charges may be amended or dismissed as further information is made available.”
*Editor’s note: The category of “violent/threats” includes all incidents listed as either: assault, brandishing a weapon, criminal threats report, domestic violence and shots into dwelling/vehicle.
