Latest police logs show extra patrols and traffic stops near various schools as the first day of classes resumed on Thursday. Logs also show an uptick in code enforcement activity and a drop in theft and vandalism incidents, while homeless-related calls remained the same as the prior week.
A Sentinel review of the seven most recent incident logs show a total of 1,397 incidents listed from Aug. 4-10, a slight increase from 1,373 the prior week.
Categories of note are included below, along with comparison data from the prior week:
- Animal control: 35 (down from 41)
- 911 hangups: 39 (down from 45)
- Code enforcement: 68 (up from 56)
- Traffic accidents: 34 (same as prior week)
- Vehicle violations: 222 (down from 273)
- Theft: 43 (down from 51)
- Homeless-related: 21 (same as prior week)
- Vandalism: 9 (down from 13)
- Violent/threats: 29 (same as prior week)
- Disturbance: 111 (down from 112)
- Suspicious circumstances: 181 (down from 189)

Citrus Heights police resumed publishing of daily incident logs in March 2023. The department notes that its logs “are not intended as a full and complete list of all police activity,” with some information not displayed for legal reasons, such as arrests of minors. As such, police advise that summary totals based on public logs may differ from weekly incident and arrest totals posted by police on social media.
The department notes on its website that: “All arrested suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty. Additionally, the original crimes, nature of offenses, and charges may be amended or dismissed as further information is made available.”
