Sentinel staff report–
The long-awaited opening of Mesa Verde High School’s own stadium has arrived, with a ribbon cutting set for Oct. 13, followed by a pair of homecoming games the same evening.
San Juan Unified School District Communication Specialist Elysse Fresquez said in an email that the new stadium features new bleachers, lighting, a press box, restrooms, a concession stand, ticket booth and turf field. She said the project also included new tennis courts, a track area and renovated locker rooms.
Fresquez said the historic ribbon-cutting will include alum from the 1970s to present, as the stadium project “represents a dream held by Mesa students for over 30 years.” Community members are welcome, with RSVP requested through Eventbrite.
The event will take place at 7501 Carriage Drive at the new stadium on Oct. 13, at 3 p.m. Junior varsity and varsity homecoming games against Rio Linda High School will take place at the field, beginning at 5 p.m.
