Sentinel staff report–
Students at Sylvan Middle School on Wednesday sheltered in place as officers responded to the campus after receiving a report that two minors had been seen trying to hop a fence into the campus with a possible handgun.
In a social media post, Citrus Heights police said a call had been received at 2:22 p.m. on Nov. 29 from a passerby. Police said the two minors were located off the campus and “had dumped an item later identified as a cap gun at a nearby establishment.”
The police department posted a photo of a cap gun on the ground, with an orange tip that appeared to have been partially painted over.
Police thanked the passerby who contacted 911 and encouraged others to report, posting the hashtag #SeeSomethingSaySomething.
Earlier this year, on March 31, Sylvan Middle School had another shelter-in-place order following a fight after school.
