Dumpster fire at Sunrise Mall draws Metro Fire response

Reports of a dumpster fire drew Metro Fire crews to Sunrise Mall over the weekend.

Metro Fire Battalion Chief Parker Wilbourn said there were no injuries, and the fire was contained to the dumpster. Crews reportedly arrived at the scene just before 6 p.m. on Jan. 7, with the call closed about an hour later.

A dumpster on the east side of the mall near Macy’s appeared to have been heavily damaged by fire, and charred debris was seen behind a brick wall during a visit on Tuesday.

The cause is under investigation, according to Wilbourn.
