Sentinel staff report–
The Citrus Heights Police Department said in a news release Thursday evening that the second of three suspects in a pair of gun store burglaries has been arrested.
Police said 27-year-old Taron Carter was located and arrested on Jan. 31, after detectives learned the suspect was at an apartment complex in South Sacramento, off 47th Avenue. Detectives from Citrus Heights, along with a K9 Unit and the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department Air Unit, aided in the arrest.
As previously reported, another suspect, 38-year-old suspect Joshua Butler, was arrested following the incident, but police said 28-year-old suspect Rollkey McDaniel is still being sought. He is currently on probation for being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to police.
In a prior news release on Tuesday, police said the trio of suspects allegedly stole several firearms from a business on the 8000 block of Greenback Lane, and then fled the scene in a vehicle. The theft prompted a swift response from police who identified three suspects, two of whom have now been arrested. Police said the business had “excellent video surveillance equipment that was extremely valuable in helping officers identify these suspects.”
Police said the trio entered the store during regular business hours, took two firearms, and then fled in a nearby vehicle. The store was not identified by name in Tuesday’s news release, but was described as being located on the 8000 block of Greenback Lane, which is where Sacramento Black Rifle operates a store.
