Election results in the March 5 primary continue to be updated by Sacramento County officials, with the latest update released Friday afternoon.
As of March 8, elections officials report that a total of 180,496 votes were cast in the election, out of 868,750 registered voters, making for a voter turnout of 20.78%.
The following are the latest results in local races affecting Citrus Heights:
U.S. Representative, District 6. Democratic incumbent Ami Bera holds a strong lead with approximately 54% of the vote, followed by Republican Christine Bish in second place with 19.6%. Ray Riehle trails with 10.85% and Craig DeLuz at just under 9%.
Riehle, who lives in Citrus Heights, sent out an email update Saturday accepting defeat, saying: “Although the result is not what I was looking for, I appreciate the support I received and look forward to other opportunities to serve in the future.”
State Assembly, District 7. In the race for state assembly, incumbent Republican Josh Hoover leads with just under 52% of the vote, followed by Citrus Heights councilwoman Porsche Middleton at 30.1% and YK Chalamcherla at just under 18%.
Board of Supervisors. In the race for Sacramento County Board of Supervisor’s, Rosario Rodriguez leads with 50.53% of the vote, followed by Bret Daniels with around 28% and Braden Murphy at just under 22%.
Rodriguez said in an email update that her lead has been growing with each update, and noted that if she remains at more than 50% in the final vote count that she would avoid a run-off in November with the candidate who winds up in second place. She estimates around 28,500 votes remain to be counted in District 4 and said her campaign is “cautiously optimistic.”
Board of Education. In area 4 for the Sacramento County Board of Education, charter school advocate and Citrus Heights native Vanessa Caigoy has a strong lead with over 35% of the vote, followed by Linda Christopher DeWilde at 22%, Jay Martinez at 18%, Moe Sarama at 18% and Usman Haider at just over 5%.
Superior Court Judge, No. 21. For judge, Amy Holliday earned more than 60% of the vote, followed by 22% for Noel Calvillo and 17% for Bobby Luna.
