Although boards blocking the front windows have been removed and lights are on inside, the Dollar Tree in the Copperwood Square shopping center remains closed after it was damaged by storms in February.
A visit by Sentinel staff on Tuesday found lights on at the Dollar Tree located at 7000 Sunrise Blvd., but shelves were vacant and all merchandise had been removed. A red tag from the city indicated the store was unsafe to enter.
The store was previously forced to close in February after storms caused part of the roof to collapse, according to Sacramento Metro Fire. Prior photos from the incident show a portion of the ceiling in the left-rear corner of the store partially collapsed and touching the floor. An alarm can be heard going off in the background of a short video clip from Metro Fire showing damage.
At the time of the incident, Metro Fire said no one was injured as a result of the collapse, which occurred around 3 a.m.
A representative of Rome Real Estate was not able to provide an update on the business closure before press time and a representative of Dollar Tree Inc. referred Sentinel staff to Media Relations, which also did not respond by press time on Saturday.
The Copperwood Square Shopping Center is anchored by Food Maxx and Planet Fitness.
