A late-night garage fire that occurred on Independence Day is under investigation by Sacramento Metro Fire District.
Fire crews were dispatched to the 6100 block of Ebonywood Court, in the northwestern area of Citrus Heights near Roseville Road, around 11:45 p.m. on July 4, according to a post on Metro Fire’s social media feed.
“Thankfully everyone made it out, no injuries were reported,” Metro Fire wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. The fire caused major damage to the home’s garage and parts of the living space before crews were able to knock it down.
Occupants were assisted by members of the Red Cross. A video on the fire district’s X feed shows firefighters surrounded by heavy smoke while battling the fire and a vehicle in the driveway partially impacted by flames.
As of July 5, the fire was still under investigation, according to the fire district.
Another fire was also reported on Conover Drive at 10:23 p.m. Residents on social media reported that at least one street had been closed down while the fire was addressed, and that one person was assisted in leaving a residence.
A representative of Sacramento Metro Fire informed The Sentinel that it could take “several days” to compile data on the total number of fires that occurred within Citrus Heights on July 4 and did not comment on the fire on Conover Drive.
