Sentinel staff report–
The City of Citrus Heights announced that its planned July 11 outdoor City Scoop event has been cancelled, citing the area being under an extreme heat advisory.
The city said on social media that residents are encouraged to “stay safe and cool indoors,” and noted that the city’s police station lobby is open as a cooling center on days where the temperature rises to 100 degrees or hotter. The police station is located at 6315 Fountain Square Drive.
The city began hosting it’s “City Scoop” ice cream socials last year as a way for residents in various neighborhoods to connect. The next City Scoop is planned for Aug. 8 at Lichen K-8 school.
