Signage for a new HomeGoods store was recently installed on the front of a 25,000-square-foot vacant building in the Marketplace at Birdcage shopping center.
On a visit to the site on Monday, Sentinel staff found construction work ongoing inside, with permanent signage outside replacing a temporary banner with the store’s name printed. A “Coming Soon” banner with the slogan “Your New Happy Place” still hangs beneath the new signage.
A Marketplace at Birdcage leasing brochure lists suite 6130A as HomeGoods, but does not specify an opening date. Sunrise MarketPlace Executive Director Kathilynn Carpenter did not confirm an official opening date for the store. According to Sierra Contracting management personnel, who were on site on Monday, the national home décor chain is anticipated to open the location sometime in October.
The vacant building shares frontage with Best Buy and Michaels. Previously, the building was home to Stein Mart. In addition to Michaels and Best Buy, the retailer will join anchor tenants Walmart Neighborhood Market, Barnes & Noble, Old Navy, and Chuze Fitness, among other national chains with a presence in the Marketplace at Birdcage.
The nearest HomeGoods retail stores are in Folsom, Rocklin, Roseville, and Arden-Arcade, the company’s website shows. An address for a Citrus Heights location is not yet listed on the company’s website.
The parent company of HomeGoods, TJX Companies, also owns TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Sierra, and HomeSense retail brands, according to the business.
