A local shipping store on Auburn Boulevard was recently burglarized three times within a week, according to the store’s owner.
Sandeep Gill, who owns two shipping centers in Citrus Heights, said his store on Auburn Boulevard was broken into and vandalized on Aug. 17 and 18, and then a third time the following weekend.
Gill said the intruder or intruders shattered his window, broke into his safe and “ripped it apart,” and then stole his laptop and other electronics on the first night, as well as all the keys. The intruder reportedly left behind a knife, and there was blood on the floor, which Gill suspects is a result of injury upon breaking into the shop.
In the second incident, another door was broken through, and the third time, another window was shattered, Gill said, adding that whoever broke in also cut electricity to the shop.
A visit by Sentinel staff last week found the shop open for business, but with windows still boarded up. Gill confirmed the shop remains open for business.
Gill has filed three separate police reports and said police suggested he also board up his store windows that aren’t broken in order to ward off future attacks and save money in case other windows are broken.
“Nobody is going to come there, it’s already a small business,” Gill said in response to being asked to board up all the windows.
Citrus Heights police told The Sentinel Wednesday that after reaching out to nearby businesses, no video surveillance was available and they are unable to determine the number of suspects involved in the burglaries.
Police said “potential” evidence was recovered after the third burglary and is being processed for fingerprints and “potential DNA evidence.”
Gill purchased two shipping store locations on Lichen Drive and Auburn Boulevard in October 2023, and has had no problems, until last month.
