Twelve store managers and assistant managers from multiple Dutch Bros coffee shops in the region gathered Friday at Sunrise Christian Food Ministry to volunteer their time helping organize, package food for patrons, and serve food to families in need.
Every year, Dutch Bros employees gather together to serve at various community projects throughout the region ahead of the company’s annual “Dutch Luv” fundraising event held as close to Valentine’s Day as possible.
The dozen serving last Friday spent time both inside the facility and outside the facility packaging food from received shipments in equal portions into bags that could then be easily handed to families in need. Some Dutch Bros managers also spent time creating large posters advertising the companies annual “Dutch Luv” fundraiser.
This year was the first year shop manager Delayah McDonald has served with Sunrise Christian Food Ministry. McDonald works at Dutch Bros on Madison Avenue and San Juan Avenue and said many of the volunteers who work for Sunrise Christian Food Ministry visit her Dutch Bros location regularly.
“It’s been fun,” McDonald said. “It’s cool to see how many hands go into feeding all the people.”
Ryan Rafferty and Naum Josan worked outside the facility unloading a large shipment of foodstuffs, and said they have served at Sunrise Christian Food Ministry annually for seven years.
“We just love to get the good word of philanthropy, community service out there,” Rafferty said, adding that he wants to inspire others to also serve in their communities.
Josan said they both also enjoy doing a lot of other similar community service projects throughout the year.
