DUI collision results in major intersection lane closures

By Sara Beth Williams–
A collision in the area of Sunrise Boulevard and Greenback Lane late Thursday night resulted in lane closures, interrupting traffic on the major corridor.

Between 10 and 10:30 p.m. a two-vehicle collision resulting in one vehicle rolled over was reported to police. Officers arrived to find one driver injured and showing signs of impairment.

Westbound Greenback Lane near Sunrise Boulevard was closed before 11 p.m. for over an hour last night following a collision, a traffic advisory said. Associated turning lanes were also closed temporarily.

The driver in the rolled over vehicle was safely removed and both vehicles were towed from the scene.

The cause of the collision is being considered a DUI, Citrus Heights Police said Friday. Other possible contributing factors are still being investigated, but driving under the influence is considered the primary cause of the collision.

One driver was transported to the hospital. Citrus Heights Police are pursing DUI charges but have not made an arrest.
