A new bakery known for its freshly made and unique twists on donuts, held a soft opening this weekend in Citrus Heights.
Bad Bakers’ new Citrus Heights location received final approvals the week before last and held a grand opening on Saturday, May 9.
The bakery fills a 1,100-square-foot space adjacent to Starbucks.
On Saturday, Employees said the store opened early, and was very busy midday during its official grand opening celebration. The shop celebrated with colorful balloon columns and held a giveaway throughout the day. Anyone who made a purchase was given a golden raffle ticket, and put in the running for a Play Station 5 gaming system, or free bundles of specialty baked bread from the shop.
The bakery is known for its freshly made and unique donuts, including specialty creations like “Unicorn Clouds”, a donut with plentiful sprinkles, “Mixed Berry”, a donut dipped in a mixed berry compote, a “Chocolate Cherry” donut, and “Eminem,” a donut half-dipped in chocolate, and half-covered with M&Ms.
The bakery also offers Kronuts, raised donuts, mochi donuts, ube mochi donuts, and French Cruller donuts. Additionally, the bakery offers breads and bundle orders.
The company has several shops throughout the region, including shops in Roseville, Natomas, Elk Grove, Folsom, and Sacramento, with plans for several more, including one coming soon in West Sacramento and in Woodland, according to the bakery’s website.
The building at 7056 Sunrise Blvd., which is currently home to a drive-thru Starbucks location, has acquired three new tenants in the last year, including Gateway Nails and Spa along with the bakery and a new Mongolian barbeque restaurant.
The shopping center anchored by FoodMaxx and Planet Fitness has seen multiple tenants come and go over the years. Along with the addition of Gateway Nails and Spa, United Martial Arts Academy filled a long-vacant building once home to Hollywood Video.
The new Bad Bakers is located at 7056 Sunrise Blvd, with hours of operation of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
