The City of Citrus Heights is now accepting nominations for its 2026 Business of Distinction “Pride of Place” Award, a quarterly recognition program that highlights local businesses making a visible and positive impact in the community.
City officials say the Business of Distinction program is designed to celebrate small businesses as a vital part of Citrus Heights, recognizing those that go above and beyond to enhance the city’s appearance and economic vitality.
This quarter’s theme, “Pride of Place,” focuses on businesses that have invested in revitalizing their physical space. That can include renovations, exterior upgrades, or the transformation of previously vacant or underutilized properties into active, welcoming spaces.
The city is encouraging residents and community members to nominate businesses they believe exemplify these efforts. Self-nominations are also accepted.
To qualify, nominated businesses must be located within Citrus Heights and hold a valid business license. They must also have completed a visible renovation or reinvestment within the past three years, demonstrate a clear improvement in property condition and appearance, and show a positive impact on the surrounding area.
Nominations will remain open through May 22, and can be submitted through the city’s website.
City officials say the recognition not only honors individual businesses, but also helps spotlight the broader role local investment plays in strengthening neighborhoods and fostering community pride.
