Cyclist transported to hospital after Citrus Heights crash

An adult male bicyclist was transported to a hospital with minor injuries Friday after being struck by a vehicle near the intersection of Greenback Lane and Auburn Boulevard, according to the Citrus Heights Police Department.

The collision occurred shortly after 11 a.m. on Greenback Lane, near the area of Greenback Lane and Auburn Boulevard. Police said the bicyclist was riding a standard bicycle, not an e-bike, when he was involved in a collision with a vehicle that was pulling out of a parking lot at a slow speed.

The bicyclist suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment police said. The driver was not injured.

Police said the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The incident was not a hit-and-run, and investigators determined that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the collision.

Authorities described the crash as a low-speed collision and said no other injuries were reported.
