The Citrus Heights Food Truck Plaza celebrated its official grand opening a little over a month after a limited opening with only two trucks.
After over a year of work transforming the decade-long vacant corner of Twin Oaks Avenue and Auburn Boulevard into a gated, community-oriented food truck plaza, the site has grown from two vendors to 10 food vendors, and now offers guests an array of seating choices.
The new food plaza has received positive feedback from guests, from both those who have been waiting for the opening, to those who stumbled upon the plaza while driving down the Auburn Boulevard corridor. In June, several customers eating lunch during the first week of the plaza’s opening said they worked across the street, were excited for the opening, and had been anticipating the opening for a long time.
The official grand opening celebration was held Saturday, Aug. 8, and included a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by food truck vendor owners, family and friends, dozens of community patrons, local city officials, and Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce members.
The plaza’s marketing manager told The Sentinel entire families came from nearby apartment complexes in the evenings during the first week and expressed their excitement for the new food venue.
The food plaza’s vendors lineup now includes Mexican, Indian, Mediterranean and Asian-inspired cuisine, as well as pizza, specialty drinks, desserts, coffee and sweet treats.
The 10 vendors currently parked at the plaza are Monarcas Birrieria y Botanas, Bingsu Bliss, Bacon Mania, 5River Pizza & Tandoori Grill, which was one of the first vendors to snag a spot at the plaza; Sweets Drinks & Treats, Tipsy Cheese, Hefty Gyros, Kado’s Asian Grill, Bubble Hive and Luna Cafe which owners say is open in the morning hours.
Since its soft opening in June, the food plaza has also added multiple picnic tables and patio tables with umbrellas, and a covered patio set with couch and coffee table for people to wait or hang out with friends. Portable misters were also placed throughout the plaza.
Hours for the plaza are currently 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., owners say.
