Citrus Heights Police say a teen who went missing from her home overnight between Wednesday and Thursday has been found safe.
Citrus Heights Police began searching for an at risk missing teenage girl early Thursday morning, who officials say left home wearing a backpack.
The missing teen was described as a 12- or 13-year-old female with dark hair, weighing between 60 and 80 pounds, and standing between 4 feet and 10 inches and 4 feet and 11 inches. The teenager’s whereabouts were unknown for several hours Thursday morning. Officers searched businesses and a nearby park without success.
Citrus Heights Police Sgt. Eric Dias confirmed Thursday afternoon that the teen did run away from home, and that she is a student who attends Sylvan Middle School.
The teen was discovered to be safe when a parent brought the girl back to Sylvan Middle School sometime Thursday morning, police said. Following that, the teen was reunited with family.
