By Sara Beth Williams–
The latest voting results for Sacramento County, released Friday evening, show a tight race for Citrus Heights City Council District 2, while many other local candidates’ leads have widened since Wednesday.

Below are local election results specifically impacting or relating to Citrus Heights, as well as voting results from other regional elections.

Local election results: Citrus Heights City Council

District 2: Incumbent MariJane Lopez-Taff continues to hold a commanding lead with over 60 percent of the vote against challenger Charles Stone, which she has maintained since Tuesday night. The lead narrowed from 63 to 61 percent from Tuesday to Wednesday, with Stone inching from 36 to 38 percent of the vote. Lopez-Taff increased her lead from a little over 800 votes to just under 1,000 as of Friday.

District 4:  Incumbent Jayna Karpinski-Costa is also leading with 56 percent of the vote while challenger Susan Powers has received 43.9 percent of the vote. The two are separated by only 374 votes.

District 5:  Current Vice Mayor Porsche Middleton ran for the District 5 seat unopposed. Councilmembers are typically seated in December following official election results.

San Juan Unified School District:

Trustee Area 7: Incumbent Manuel Perez has maintained a steady lead over repeat candidate Murad “Moe” Sarama, though his lead has dropped from 61 to 59 percent as of Friday. Perez leads with 1,600 more votes.

Perez was previously elected during a special election in 2023, following the sudden death of elected board member Steve Miller, who was the first one elected to serve in the newly created Trustee Area 7 to specifically represent Citrus Heights’ interests.

Trustee Areas 5 & 6: Both incumbents Tanya Kravchuk (Area 5) and Ben Avey (Area 6) ran for reelection unopposed. Trustee Areas 5 and 6 encompass portions of Orangevale, Carmichael, Fair Oaks, Gold River and Citrus Heights.

Trustee Area 3: Candidate Roxeanne Stellmacher holds a tight lead over challenger Morri Elliot with 51.8 percent of the vote over Elliot’s 48 percent. There is only a 482-vote gap between the two as of Friday. Trustee Area 3 encompasses Carmichael, southeast Arden Arcade, and Arden Town.

Los Rios Community College District:

Area 2: Out of the long list of eight candidates running in an open field, Oranit Limmaneeprasert is holding onto a consistent lead over Phil Davis, with about 1,300 votes between the two. Limmaneeprasert’s lead has widened to 22.9 percent, with Davis at 19.9 percent. Paula Vasquez also has 19 percent of the vote, and sits at 1,742 votes from the top spot.

Measure H: The district’s $1.1 billion bond measure currently is passing with 61.9 percent of the vote. Measure H required 55 percent of the vote to be considered passing.

San Juan Water District:

Division 1: Challenger Michael Nishimara, who sits on the Citrus Heights Water District Community Advisory Committee, is trailing against incumbent George Machado, who leads with 66.5 percent of the vote. Machado was previously elected to the Division 1 seat to fill a vacancy.

Division 3: Longtime incumbent Edward “Ted” Costa is holding onto a commanding lead with 73 percent of the vote over Joan Pederson who has 26.9 percent of the vote.

Sacramento Suburban Water District:

Division 3: Robert “Bob” Wichert held a commanding lead with over 60 percent of the vote against candidate Andrew Saunders and David Franco. Saunders conceded to Wichert on Wednesday afternoon.

California state Assembly and Senate races:

District 6: Incumbent and Republican Roger Niello is hanging on to a tight lead over Democratic challenger Sean Frame. Niello currently has 51.8 percent of the vote as of Friday evening, to Frame’s 48.2 percent according to the California Secretary of State.

District 7: Incumbent and Republican Josh Hoover currently trails Democratic challenger Amy Slavensky, who holds the lead with 53 percent of the vote. Hoover narrowly defeated his previous democratic challenger in the 2024 elections by less than one percent

United States House:

District 6: As of the latest voting results, candidate Richard Pan, Democrat, led independent Kevin Kiley early on by over 60 percent of the vote. Kiley conceded the race to Pan around 9 p.m. on Nov. 3.

Kiley left the GOP and became an independent in hopes of succeeding in this district. This district shifted a few points to the right due to redistricting, although still favors Democrats.

Election results will change throughout the ballot counting period as vote-by-mail ballots, provisional ballots (including conditional voter registration provisional ballots), and other ballots are tallied.

The next update from Sacramento County is expected on Tuesday, Nov. 10. Find the latest updated Sacramento County and State-wide election results here.
