Citrus Heights woman convicted in federal drug conspiracy case

Sentinel staff report–
The U.S. Department of Justice on Wednesday announced the sentencing of a 41-year-old Citrus Heights woman as part of a federal drug conspiracy case.

In a news release, authorities said Melissa Walsh was arrested last year in August for distribution of methamphetamine, involving shipping of the drug through the U.S. Postal Service between 2020 and 2021. She was sentenced to 36 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, according to the March 30 news release.

The case was investigated by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation and the United States Postal Inspection Service, and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy J. Forwood. Walsh was also ordered to pay $200 in restitution and a $100 special assessment, the DOJ said.

Two other individuals were also listed as co-defendants in Walsh’s case, including a 61-year-old Wyoming man who was sentenced to 60 months in prison for his role in the crimes.
