A four-vehicle collision disrupted midday traffic Wednesday on Greenback Lane between Auburn Boulevard and Dewey Drive.
Citrus Heights Police Department officials responded to the scene Wednesday around 12:20 p.m. and found four vehicles involved, with one vehicle having collided with a pole.
Law enforcement said Thursday that the crash began when one vehicle struck another, causing a chain reaction involving three additional vehicles. The driver determined to be at fault ultimately collided with a pole on the sidewalk.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Police said DUI is not suspected and no arrests were made. Authorities added that a possible medical emergency could have been the initial catalyst for the crash, but were not able to confirm. At least one driver was transported to the hospital.
Road closures were in place briefly on Greenback Lane while emergency responders cleared vehicles from the scene and ensured the area was safe for traffic.
