An adult male was found dead in the early morning hours on Tuesday morning near Antelope Road and Zenith Drive, police say.
Around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, Citrus Heights police responded to reports of an unresponsive man lying on the sidewalk near the corner of the intersection.
According to Sgt. Eric Dias of the Citrus Heights Police Department’s General Investigations Unit, officers were dispatched to the west side of a hair salon where a man was found lying face down on the sidewalk, not breathing, on Zenith Drive.
Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District personnel were already on scene and administering CPR when police arrived, Sgt. Dias said.
The man had abrasions on his face, which investigators believe were sustained during a fall. While the incident was initially considered suspicious, Sgt. Dias said that suspicion has since diminished as the investigation progresses.
At this time, police believe the death was accidental. The identity and age of the man have not been released.
This is a developing story. The Sentinel has reached out to the Citrus Heights Police General Investigations Unit for further details.
