Sentinel staff report–
Sacramento County Supervisor Sue Frost will host a four-hour workshop at the Citrus Heights Community Center on Tuesday, Oct. 23, targeted towards those 65-and-over. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will focus on helping seniors find ways to save money and “help counter the rising cost of living on a fixed budget.”

According to an online event listing, resources covered in the workshop will include free five-days-a-week food delivery, “huge savings with a prescription program,” free legal services for updating trusts, food banks that give away food weekly, and information on Calfresh — a program that provides money for food.

Attendees are also promised information about maximizing Medicare, a 2-1-1 call center for seniors, available discounts on utility bills, food and vaccinations for pets owned by seniors, as well as training on how to avoid fraud and senior financial or physical abuse.

Those interested in attending the workshop are asked to register online at Eventbrite.com, or call (916) 874-5491 for questions.

The event is sponsored by Supervisor Frost, along with the Citrus Heights Homeless Assistance Resource Team, the County of Sacramento, Dignity Health, Kaiser Permanente, Sunrise MarketPlace, and other regional organizations and agencies.
