The Citrus Heights Sports Authority store will permanently close its doors to the public on July 27, a manager confirmed via phone Friday.
The manager, who requested her name not be published, said less than half the items are left in the store. She said current sales prices are listed at 60 to 80 percent off, with mostly apparel items and cleats remaining.
According to the store’s website, hours of operation are 9 a.m to 9:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday. The address is 5995 Birdcage Centre Ln.
Five other Sports Authority stores in the region will also close by July 28, according to the Sacramento Business Journal. Locations in Roseville and Elk Grove will be replaced by Dick’s Sporting Goods, but the future of the Citrus Heights store is unknown.
The closures are part of a national liquidation effort, as the company undergoes bankruptcy. The sports store chain was founded in 1919 and announced earlier this year in May that all of its stores would close by the end of August.
Phone and email requests for comment were not returned by Sports Authority’s media department.
