Smokey skies blanket Citrus Heights
Smoke from California’s wildfires blanketed Citrus Heights Friday evening, reducing visibility and bringing a strong odor. A photo taken around 6:30 p.m. Friday on Sunrise Boulevard showed thick smoke in the air, with most vehicles opting to turn on headlights.
CHP: Citrus Heights family was shot at on I-80
A family from Citrus Heights was shot at while driving on I-80, just days after moving from Richmond to get away from violence, ABC 10 reported Wednesday. The father involved was struck by a bullet in his hip and the mother suffered a bullet injury on her head. Investigators are unclear of the reason for the shooting. (See full story)
Obituary: Shawn Christopher Barton (1961-2020)
Shawn Barton passed away at his Citrus Heights home last month after a six-month battle with cancer, according to an obituary published last week. He moved to Citrus Heights in 2010 and previously played 10 years of minor league baseball and played for many club and semi pro teams into his 40s. He is survived by his wife and two children.
