Members of two neighborhood associations in the northeastern portion of Citrus Heights voted to finalize a merger during a meeting Tuesday evening.
The newly created Citrus Heights Areas Seven, Eight and Nine (CHASEN) was approved April 20 without any “nay” votes during the meeting. Bylaws for the organization were distributed and formally adopted by the members.
The stated purpose of the new organization is to enhance the livability of the area, provide an open process for members to become involved, engage in activities, as well as educational and charitable purposes, according to the bylaws.
Membership includes every resident, property owner, and business owner in the area. Anyone over the age of 18 who works in the area is also a member, according to the bylaws. There are no dues for membership.
The area now matches the City Council’s District 2 seat boundary lines, bordered by Sunrise Boulevard to the west and the city limit to the north. The area’s southern border is Greenback Lane.
Citrus Heights is made up of 11 neighborhood areas, three of which have now combined over the years. Each holds monthly meetings to discuss topics affecting their areas, and often invite speakers from the city to address their groups.
