Fireworks blamed for fire behind Sunrise Mall
A fire in a planter area behind Sunrise Mall on July 11 has been attributed to illegal fireworks being set off in the parking lot behind Sears, according to a resident who lives nearby. The resident, who requested to be anonymous, shared photos of charred brush in a planter area behind Sunrise Mall and said the fire had started several minutes after he heard “a loud cherry bomb or M-80” go off in the parking lot. Police also said several brush fires reported over the prior weekend were suspected to have been started by fireworks.
ABC 10 airs reactions in Citrus Heights to new mask recommendation

School district to pick final electoral map on July 27
The San Juan Unified School District board of education held a public hearing July 13 to further discuss transitioning to a by-trustee-area method of electing its board members. According to board meeting briefs posted on the district’s website, the board is still seeking community input and is slated to make a final decision on July 27 regarding which map will be used.
