Group protests outside church ‘Trunk or Treat’ event
Several protesters from “Go God or Go Home,” a home-church ministry based in Rancho Cordova, voiced their opposition to Celtic Cross’s Trunk or Treat event using a microphone and speaker from the sidewalk of Dewey Drive Saturday. The group advocated that churches should not celebrate Halloween because of what they said were pagan roots of the holiday and its spiritual connotation. The church’s senior pastor said he couldn’t comment directly on the group’s message because he didn’t personally speak with them, but he said the goal of the event was to give families in the community a safe way to come together. A video of the protest was posted on Facebook Live by one of the protesters (See video).
