Sentinel staff report–
A new video uploaded Friday shows an overview of what’s planned for a long-awaited stadium at Mesa Verde High School.
The 3-minute video features interviews with staff and students commenting about the project, as well as showing visuals of the stadium layout.
The school has never had its own stadium and students currently use a football field and dirt track that has been in place for more than 40 years. The school’s athletic director, Travis Miller, who is also an alumni of Mesa Verde, is quoted saying he graduated in 2003 and recalled hearing talk of the school getting a stadium for years.
“Any time we show the students pictures or we talk about it, they’re just overwhelmingly positive about it,” said Miller.
The stadium is slated to feature a synthetic running track and football field with advanced lighting to limit glare. Plans also include a press box, concession stands, ticket booth, restrooms, and expanded parking.
The project is funded by Measure N bond money and is slated to begin construction this summer and take around a year to complete.
