Downed pole knocks out power to residents
A collision reportedly involving a vehicle and a utility pole on Wednesday night knocked out power to 1,060 residents in Citrus Heights. A photo taken by a Sentinel reader shows crews on Thursday replacing the pole, located on Madison Avenue, near Uplands Way.
Obituary: Joy Ann Engvall (1931-2022)
Longtime Citrus Heights resident Joy Engvall passed away on April 28, just two weeks after her husband’s death. An obituary published last month said she was a devoted homemaker and an active member in her neighborhood association, where she wrote a “Creek Talk” newsletter. New county sales tax proposal faces criticism, risks
The Sacramento Bee on Tuesday published an article detailing concerns regarding a proposed county-wide, half-percent sales tax hike that would provide funding for infrastructure-related projects, including extending light rail to Citrus Heights. The concerns revolve around potential conflict with climate-focused legislation that could jeopardize funding, as well as concern that a proposed 34-mile expressway that would link Elk Grove, Rancho Cordova and Folsom, “would encourage sprawl and fundamentally alter the metropolitan area.” (Read more)
