Latest local news briefs include an update from the city manager regarding pothole fixes underway, a fundraiser for a driver killed on Auburn Boulevard raising over $8,000, and an obituary of a 74-year-old Citrus Heights resident.
City manager says current pothole fixes are temporary
Citrus Heights City Manager Ash Feeney told the City Council in an update last month that potholes are currently being filled with a temporary mix that will need to be replaced once weather warms up. Feeney said the current fixes are a “cold patch/cut back” that works in cold weather, while a permanent fix of “hot mix asphalt” will be applied beginning in February, depending on weather.
Fundraiser for driver killed in fatal Citrus Heights collision raises over $8,000
An online fundraiser in memory of Kimberli Washington, the driver killed in a Jan. 22 collision on Auburn Boulevard that also killed a pedestrian, has raised $8,120 as of Feb. 4. The GoFundMe fundraiser page says money will go toward Washington’s daughter’s college fund. (See fundraiser page)
Obituary: Wayne D. Koder (1948-2023)
Citrus Heights resident Wayne Koder passed away last month at the age of 74, according to an obituary published in the New York Daily Sentinel. Koder, a former resident of Rome, NY, moved to California and graduated high school before returning to New York and working as a therapy aid. He later opened Nature’s Apparel & Things with a friend where lived out his dream of creating art, and eventually returned to California. Koder is survived by his two daughters and four grandchildren. (See full obituary)
