Helicopter activity and a police presence Monday morning on a residential street just south of Antelope Road near Rusch Park sparked discussion of a shooting on social media, but police say those reports were unfounded.
In an Aug. 28 phone call to The Sentinel, Citrus Heights Police Sgt. Kane Kissam said officers responded to a residence near Amsterdam Avenue and Valeriana Avenue after an adult woman called and reported a shooting Monday morning just after 10 a.m. Officers found no evidence of a shooting and no victims, he said.
After a search of the home, officers determined the woman was experiencing a mental health episode, according to Kissam.
Nearby residents reported a police presence in the area, with the Sheriff’s Department helicopter circling overhead.
