Events scheduled in September in Citrus Heights include the annual Citrus Bowl, a Police Activities League fundraiser, community blood drive, a science event for kids, theatre performances, an annual Sept. 11 memorial service, and Sunday Funday returning to Rusch Park.
Community Blood Drive. The Marketplace at Birdcage is hosting a community blood drive on Thursday, Sept. 7 from 12-3:15 p.m. Vitalant’s Bloodmobiles will be set up at 6177 Sunrise Blvd., near Walmart. (See more)
Shakespeare Play. Theatre in the Heights will be presenting an abridged version of the Complete Works Of William Shakespeare, with showtimes beginning Sept. 8. Tickets and showtimes can be found on the theatre’s website. Theatre in the Heights is located at 8215 Auburn Blvd. (See more)
The Citrus Bowl. The annual football matchup between Mesa Verde and San Juan High School will take place Sept. 8 at San Juan High School, at 7 p.m. San Juan High School is located at 7551 Greenback Lane. Tickets can be purchased online at GoFan.
Funtopia. Citrus Town Plaza is hosting an “I Spy” science party on Saturday, Sept. 9 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at 7925 Greenback Lane. Activities will include balloon twisting, a “Boombastic” dance party, and a 50-minute Science Wizard show. Free reservations can be made on Eventbrite.com.
Movie Night. The Park Oaks Neighborhood Association in partnership with the Sunrise Recreation and Park District will host a free showing of DC’s League of Superpets at Brooktree Park on Saturday Sept. 9, beginning at dusk. Brooktree Park is located at 6800 Dunmore Ave. (See flier)
9/11 Memorial Service. On Sept. 11, Sylvan Cemetery will be hosting an annual memorial service in remembrance of the 2001 terrorist attacks. The service is slated to begin at 8:15 a.m. Sylvan Cemetery is located at 7401 Auburn Blvd.
Sunday Funday. The city’s annual Sunday Funday event will return to Rusch Park on Sept. 24. The event will begin at 11 a.m. and feature food trucks, inflatables, vendors, and performances from the Citrus Heights Community Marching Band. (See more)
Cornhole Tournament. Citrus Heights Police Activities League will wind up the month of September with a Cornhole Tournament fundraising event on Saturday, Sept. 30 from 5-9 p.m. at the Citrus Heights Community Center. For ticket information visit ticketspice.com.
