Sentinel staff report–
Lane closures and extensive PG&E work on Auburn Boulevard are finally coming to an end, as the utility company winds up its work.
City of Citrus Heights spokeswoman Marisa Brown told The Sentinel in an email Friday that the work involved utility relocation along the boulevard in preparation for the second phase of the city’s Auburn Boulevard Complete Streets Project. She said PG&E’s work was slated to conclude “by the end of this week, weather permitting.”
The complete streets project is anticipated to begin in the spring of next year, Brown said. The $20-million-plus project will begin where phase one left off at Rusch Park and will extend to Orlando Avenue through a partnership with the City of Roseville.
The project is slated to include a new signalized “gateway” arch over Auburn Boulevard near California Burger, as well as roadway widening, bike lanes, new sidewalks, street trees and under-grounding of utilities. Brown said the project is currently out to bid, with a contract expected to be awarded in February.
