The Citrus Heights City Council is expected on Wednesday to issue several proclamations, consider several infrastructure and property improvements, and provide direction on the city’s voting delegate for the League of California Cities Annual Conference. The City Council will meet Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 6 p.m. at Citrus Heights City Hall.
Presentations: The Citrus Heights City Council plans to issue four proclamations at Wednesday’s meeting. These include proclaiming Sept. 13–19, 2026, as “National Adult Education & Family Literacy Week”; September 2026 as “Prostate Cancer Awareness Month”; recognizing “Firefighter Appreciation Month” and “California Firefighters Memorial Day”; and proclaiming Sept. 20–26, 2026, as “National Forensic Science Week.”
Consent Calendar: As part of the consent calendar, the City Council is slated to consider several administrative, infrastructure, and property-related items, including a conflict of interest code biennial update and final acceptance and notice of completion of the 2026 accessibility and drainage project.
The consent calendar also contains a request to approve a contract agreement with American River Construction, Inc. for the 7555 Old Auburn Road Tenant Improvement Project.
After being purchased by the city, in January 2026, the city entered into a lease agreement with FieldHaven Feline Center to convert one of the buildings on the Old Auburn Road property into a low-cost spay and neuter cat clinic with the condition that the city complete tenant improvements before the cat clinic could move in.
League of Cities Conference: The City Council is also slated to consider a League of California Cities Annual Conference resolution and provide direction to the city’s voting delegate regarding the Cal Cities resolution.
During the Aug. 12 City Council meeting, the council presented several questions regarding a resolution presented to the council that was to be discussed at the upcoming annual Cal Cities conference.
The resolution to be discussed involves the proposal to consider a state constitutional amendment or other form of initiative to ensure final local authority over housing and land use decisions. Vice Mayor Porsche Middelton was selected to be a voting delegate at the Cal Cites conference in September, and Mayor MariJane Lopez-Taff was selected to be the alternate delegate.
Those wishing to make a public comment during the meeting can do so by attending the council meeting on Sept. 9, 2026, at City Hall or by submitting a written comment beforehand using the city’s website.
Written comments are no longer being read out loud following amendments to the city council’s handbook but will be included in city council agenda packets. The deadline to submit comments online is 4 p.m. on the day of the meeting.
