Citrus Heights police respond to report of transients entering vacant home

By Mike Hazlip—
A heavy police presence near Poppy Way and Mariposa Avenue on Thursday evening was in response to a report of transients entering a vacant home, police said.

In a phone interview with The Sentinel, Citrus Heights Police Sgt. Kane Kissam said the call had come from an occupant of another home on the property alerting authorities that “some transients” were seen entering a vacant home at the front of the property.

Officers set up a perimeter in the area and conducted a search of the property and surrounding area but did not find anyone, Kissam said. Police believe the individuals left before officers arrived. Outside agencies and a police K9 assisted in the search.

Residents nearby reported a heavy police presence and a helicopter circling the area, according to posts on social media.
