After two decades in business at the location, the Goodwill store at Sylvan Corners will be closing its doors forever this month.
The last day for the location is slated to be Jan. 21, 2024 at 4 p.m. an announcement on the company’s social media said. All items will be marked off 75% on Jan. 18 and 19, the company said.
“With mixed emotions, we want to share the news that after 20 wonderful years, our store will be closing its doors,” the announcement said. “We are immensely grateful for the support and loyalty you’ve shown us throughout this journey.”
The business went on to thank customers, calling their patrons the “heartbeat” of the store. Clearance sales are available, and the announcement directed shoppers to other nearby locations.
The intersection of Auburn Boulevard and Old Auburn Road, known as Sylvan Corners, is located in the geographical center of Citrus Heights and has commercial centers on three of the corners. The various centers are home to businesses such as Bearpaw headquarters, KFC, Ciro’s Pizza, Starbucks, Rock Hard Burgers, and the recently opened Humle Beer House.
One corner remains undeveloped after the demolition of the old Sylvan Middle School buildings in 2017. The city initially accepted an offer from Woodside Homes to develop the land into a 94-home subdivision in January 2021. That decision was later reversed in October 2023, when the current City Council denied a General Plan Amendment to rezone the site “medium density residential.”
