A woman who was the victim of a violent attempted carjacking in a Citrus Heights neighborhood two years ago later received a letter in the mail reportedly identifying the suspect, although police confirmed this month that the suspect is still at large.
Police Lt. Wesley Herman earlier this month confirmed that authorities had received additional information in the case, but said: “We’ve looked into that information but it was not conclusive regarding the suspect’s identification.”
The incident occurred on Nov. 29, 2021, near Brooktree Park when a woman was hit in the head by an unknown assailant on the 6000 block of Dunmore Ave.
In a statement to police, the woman said she had been next to her vehicle in her driveway when a man came up behind her and hit her on the head with an object. The man then demanded the vehicle’s keys and hit her again in the face before fleeing on foot, she said.
A police lieutenant at the time told The Sentinel that the suspect was only described as “a male wearing a dark-colored hoodie.”
Herman said the current status of the case is “still pending.”
