Sentinel staff report–
A plume of smoke could be seen for miles around Citrus Heights on Monday afternoon, as fire crews responded to a garage fire near Mesa Verde High School that destroyed multiple classic cars.
The blaze occurred at the end of Poplar Avenue, off Antelope Road, with responding fire crews and emergency personnel blocking up the dead-end street around 2 p.m. on Feb. 12, 2024.
Metro Fire helmet camera footage was posted to social media, showing firefighters arriving to the scene of the well-enveloped garage fire. Several classic cars can be seen in the footage, charred by the fire.
The Sacramento Bee reported that two late 1960s Ford Mustangs were among the vehicles damaged, along with possibly another Ford Model A or Model T from the 19302, according to a battalion chief.
No injuries were reported, but the garage and multiple vehicles appeared to be a total loss. The blaze was contained to the detached garage, Metro Fire said.
