Sentinel staff report–
One of the city’s newest interactive mapping tools for tracking beautification efforts including blight cleanup and other service requests around Citrus Heights is available for the public to view on the city’s website.
City spokeswoman Marisa Brown said Tuesday that the dashboard map was rolled out in November 2023. The map shows various types of service requests, with users able to track the status of requests — including cleanup of abandoned shopping carts, litter, signs, homeless camps, and graffiti. The map also tracks service requests regarding street light outages and cleanups of right-of-ways, paths, and median areas.
As of Feb. 20, the dashboard shows a total of 3,263 service requests have been “completed,” with a total of 15 open requests and 928 requests closed within the past 90 days.
Brown said response times vary based on the type of request, noting that “litter pick up can be resolved quickly while abating illegal camps requires time for posting and moving belongings.” She also noted the city’s Beautification Crew combines proactive patrols with responding to requests, “to maximize blight abatement impact.”
The city’s new dashboard map is part of its CARES campaign to beautify the city, with residents encouraged to report, maintain and chip-in. A notice on the city’s website encourages residents to proactively report blight in public spaces to help city staff “deploy resources quickly and efficiently to resolve issues.”
