Fire crews were dispatched Monday morning to reports of a fire at a vacant, two-story house at the corner of Auburn Boulevard and Cherry Glen Avenue.
Crews arrived at 7500 Cherry Glen Ave. to find a fire with light smoke inside and had to force entry into the house.
“The suspect was burning the sheath off the copper wiring in the home presumably to recycle it for money prior to our units responding to the building fire,” Battalion Chief Parker Wilbourn told The Sentinel on Monday. One suspect was taken into custody by a Sacramento Metro Fire District arson investigator and Citrus Heights Police for “unlawfully causing a fire” officials confirmed.
It’s unclear how long the structure has been vacant. No injuries were reported.
