A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 31, at Rusch Park to celebrate the life of Jerry Garcia, who coached for the Citrus Heights Little League for several decades.
Garcia, known as “Garsh” or “Coach Garsh,” passed away on July 30, 2024. He was 75 years old. According to family members and residents, Garcia loved baseball and hot rods, and played in a local band. Garcia also played in a senior baseball league, according to a 2019 story in The Sentinel. Garcia was also part of the Thunderbolts car club.

The memorial will take place on Aug. 31 at 11 a.m., and will be held at Garsh Field, at Rusch Park, located at 7301 Antelope Rd.
A GoFundMe page for Garcia’s surviving family was established following his passing to help raise money to support the family, and had raised over $2,000 as of Aug. 24.
