Citrus Heights police responded to the 7500 block of Sunrise Boulevard after 7:40 p.m. on Sunday to reports of a victim suffering a gunshot wound.
An individual reported to police Sunday evening, Aug. 25, that they had been shot with what was thought to be a low-caliber handgun, police officials said Tuesday.
Upon investigation into the incident, officers discovered that the victim had been in contact with three juveniles who were “shooting cans with a BB gun,” according to police. When the victim spoke with the juveniles, a confrontation occurred, and one of the juveniles shot the victim with a BB gun, police told The Sentinel. The extent of the individual’s injuries was not disclosed.
Witnesses reported a heavy police presence in the area of Sunrise Boulevard, Auburn Boulevard, and Tiara Way on Sunday evening.
“Based on initial reports, we’re going to have a pretty large response to that,” Sgt. Bill Dunning with the Citrus Heights Police Department said Tuesday.
The juvenile suspects were not located, police said. No other injuries were reported.
