Citrus Heights is gearing up for spring with opening day for little leagues, community meetings, a fundraising dinner, free movies at the library, and a comic-con returning to Sunrise Mall.
Business anniversary: Aquarium and Reptile Depot is hosting a 12-year anniversary celebration Saturday and Sunday, March 1 and 2, at their location in Citrus Heights. The celebration will feature vendors, raffle opportunities with up to $10,000 in prizes, store discounts, and more. The celebration lasts from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Aquarium Depot is located at 8201 Auburn Blvd.
School Production: She Kills Monsters: Young Adventurer’s Edition will be performed at Mesa Verde High School beginning Thursday, March 6, and running through March 15. Shows begin at 7 p.m. with a March 8 matinee at 12 p.m. The second Thursday tickets are $5 off. Doors open 15 minutes before showtime. The show is rated PG-13 for language and violence. Little League Opening Day: Citrus Heights Little League is hosting its annual opening day celebration at Madera Park. For more information, visit the Little League’s website here. Madera Park is located at 8046 Wonder St.
Community Awards dinner: The Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce is hosting its 67th annual Community Awards Dinner on Thursday, March 13, at the Citrus Heights Event Center. Several awards and recognitions for local businesses and residents will be handed out during the evening. Dinner will begin at 5:30. For ticket information, visit the event page here. Comic-con: The Weekend Blender is returning to Sunrise Mall on March 15 and 16. The free community event is billed as “Not your typical Comic-Con” and features various vendors selling pop culture and comic-related merchandise. Fundraising dinner: The Citrus Heights Community Marching Band is hosting its annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser on Saturday, March 15, at the Citrus Heights Event Center. Dinner begins at 5 p.m., and tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. For more information, visit chcmb.org. Free movies: The Sylvan Oaks Library is hosting two different movies in March, with “The Harvey Girls” starring Judy Garland to be shown on Friday, March 14, beginning at 1:30 p.m. during the library’s bi-monthly “Coffee, Donuts, and a Movie” classic movie series.
“Transformers” will also be screened on Saturday, March 22, as part of the library’s “Sensory Friendly Family Movie” series, beginning at 11 a.m. To accommodate those with sensory sensitivity, volume will be lower, sensory fidgets will be available, and families are encouraged to bring any other comforting items for their children with sensory needs. Career Hub: Pride Industries is holding a career hub at the Sylvan Oaks Library on March 28 where representatives will help attendees prepare for employment and develop their career path.
