Citrus Heights Police officers assisted in the detention of two individuals Thursday morning on Mariposa Avenue, authorities confirmed.
A heavy police presence on Mariposa Avenue could be seen Thursday morning, near Old Auburn Road. At least one person was observed with hands restrained behind their back.
Early this morning, Citrus Heights Police officers were asked by the California Highway Patrol to assist in making contact with and detaining two high-risk individuals. According to police, the incident occurred at 8:30 a.m.
Officers made contact with the subjects, helped detain both, and ensured the scene was safe, before turning them over to CHP, Citrus Heights Police said Thursday afternoon.
No details have been released regarding the charges or the circumstances leading up to the detention. Authorities with Citrus Heights Police do not have any information on the status of the individuals handed over to CHP.
